ISM Training Services specialise in providing accredited training for private and business customers to attain or renew their Safe Pass certificate. Read our Safe Pass Frequently Asked Questions or learn more about our Safe Pass & Manual Handling Courses.

Our Safe Pass course provides mandatory health and safety awareness knowledge and certification for construction site workers. The course takes place in our Finglas and Tallaght classrooms over one day, starting at 8:00 am.

Our Safe Pass course and instructors are fully accredited by SOLAS.

Who Should Attend?

Safe Pass is a mandatory health and safety awareness programme. The course will cover all aspects of the construction industry’s health and safety standards and practices to lower the staff’s risk when working onsite. Trainees will be introduced to legislation covering site safety and accident reporting, risk assessments, and safety around construction vehicles and equipment.

This is a one-day course in our classrooms at either our Finglas or Tallaght Training Centres. Trainees will receive professional and cooperative instruction from our SOLAS-approved Trainer in a safe and quiet environment away from the noise and pressures of the work area.

Safe Pass is operated and managed by SOLAS and governs the training requirements for all construction workers in Ireland. SOLAS maintain a register of personnel who have completed the Safe Pass programme and authorises Safe Pass registration cards to confirm that holders have attended a formal course.

Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013, all construction workers in Ireland – including apprentices and trainees – are legally bound to hold a valid Safe Pass Registration Card. An employer’s legal responsibility is to ensure that all apprentices, trainees and onsite security workers have received safety awareness training and have a Safe Pass registration card before they can work on construction sites.

Who should attend?

Attending a Safe Pass course for anyone working on a construction site, including apprentices registered under the Standards Based Apprenticeship Scheme and trainees undergoing Traineeships, is mandatory. Trainees may work as Craft Workers, General Construction Workers, Contracted Drivers Onsite etc. and require a Safe Pass certification before being allowed onsite. All onsite workers must have updated knowledge of health and safety standards and practices to prevent injury to themselves or their colleagues. Trainees who complete this course can access work on any construction site in Ireland.

To attend this training, trainees must be at least 16 years old and have a strong command of written and spoken English, as the course is conducted entirely in English, including a written assessment.

What qualifications will I receive?

All trainees will complete a written assessment at the end of the course. This consists of 20 multiple-choice questions with a minimum pass mark of 14 correct answers. If a trainee does not pass the assessment, they will immediately re-sit it on the same day. A second fail grade will result in a trainee being required to repeat the Safe Pass course on another date.

When you complete the programme, your ISM Trainer will upload your results to the SOLAS card management system. Your Safe Pass Registration Card will be issued to your ISM Trainer about five working days after they upload your information to the system.

Safe Pass Registration Cards are valid for four years, after which time the cardholder must attend another Safe Pass course to update their safety awareness training. Upon completing the training course, a new Safe Pass Registration Card will be issued.

I had the pleasure to meet Ciaran Corcoran and passed my category B manual car driving test with his guidance. Ciaran is a great instructor, and he is always gentle, patient, and encouraging. He avoids being critical and always gives feedback in a constructive and positive way. Most of the people around me passed their test in an automatic car, and when I told Ciaran I was thinking about switching after failing multiple times, he encouraged me to stick with manual. He’s very knowledgeable and taught me a lot of advanced driving techniques, such as predicting when the blue bus lane becomes active and anticipating when traffic lights are about to turn green. These aren’t things you need to pass the driving test, but they’re valuable skills for safe driving throughout your life.

I can't recommend Ger Homan highly enough. Before my first lesson I'd never driven a truck, let alone an 18-tonne MAN rigid. Over just 10 hours of tuition, delivered in relaxed 2-hour sessions, Ger's calm, friendly approach and wealth of knowledge gave me the confidence and skills I needed to pass my Category C test first time.

Nothing ever felt rushed or stressful. Ger has a great way of explaining things, putting you at ease, and building your confidence lesson by lesson. ISM are very lucky to have an instructor of his calibre. Thanks, Ger!

Just passed my test today and couldn’t recommend Stephen Bowen enough. He was brilliant from start to finish-really patient, always explained things clearly, and took the time to go over anything I struggled with. He went out of his way to help and made every lesson feel relaxed. Super welcoming and easy to get on with. Great instructor!

I trained for the D license with ISM and passed on my second attempt, I would likely have passed first time, however I was a bit nervous on the day of the test. I had quality instruction from qualified and experienced instructors including Chris, Stylianos, Enoch, Joe, George and Victor (thank you) and excellent support from the admin team Lukas and Adam (thank you). ISM is a professionally run operation that prides itself on doing all it can to assist learners to pass there test, in my opinion. I also purchased some B licence lessons for my son, who has said he is enjoying his training also. I would highly recommend this company to anyone for instruction in any of the categories required for the license and vehicle they wish to acquire.

I had an excellent experience preparing for my driving test with Ms. Rofeda. She is highly professional, patient, and incredibly supportive, helping to build confidence behind the wheel from the very beginning. Her teaching style is clear and focused, making it easy to understand and improve with each lesson.

What really stood out was how accurately the lessons reflected the actual driving test. From the routes and manoeuvres to the finer details like observation and positioning, everything was covered thoroughly and matched what I experienced on test day.

Thanks to her guidance, I felt fully prepared and was able to pass my test on the first attempt in Jamestown. I would strongly recommend Ms. Rofeda and her driving school to anyone looking for high-quality, well-structured instruction.
