RTITB Instructor Training
Intensive instructor‑level training programme for individuals seeking a recognised qualification as a Forklift Driving Instructor.
Suitable for experienced forklift operators and those who have successfully completed the Novice Training Programme.
Delivered over 10 days, this programme includes theoretical study, instructional technique development, practical forklift testing skills and an external RTITB examination (included in the cost).
Who Should Attend:
Individuals wishing to qualify as certified RTITB Forklift Instructors.
Applicants must:
- Have strong forklift operating experience
- Hold current and valid certification for the relevant truck type (Counterbalance or Reach)
- Have completed Novice Training or formal refresher training within the previous 12 months
Objectives:
On completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Plan, prepare and deliver forklift operator instruction
- Conduct and assess theoretical tests
- Conduct practical forklift operator testing
- Issue operator certificates upon completion of training
- Apply and uphold RTITB standards

- Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005
- Instructional techniques

10 days (9:00am – 4:00pm)
Requirements:
Candidates must:
- Hold a valid forklift operator certificate
- Have completed Novice Training or formal refresher training within the last 12 months
- Be certified for the truck type they plan to instruct on
- Counterbalance qualification = Counterbalance Instructor only
- Reach qualification requires an additional 1‑day conversion course if starting as Counterbalance Instructor
Assessment & Certification:
Participants complete both a theoretical and practical exam.
Successful candidates receive an RTITB Forklift Instructor Certificate.
