This course provides participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to safely select, mount, use, and manage abrasive wheels in the workplace.

Course Objectives
On completion, participants will be able to:
- Safely store and identify abrasive wheels
- Select the appropriate wheel for the task
- Inspect and recognise damaged wheels
- Mount an abrasive wheel correctly
- Understand the hazards and risks associated with abrasive wheel use
Course Content
- Abrasive wheels regulations
- Hazard identification
- Selecting the correct wheel for the job
- Inspection and testing of abrasive wheels
- Guarding of grinding and cutting operations
- Dressing and truing abrasive wheels
- Components and functions: flanges, blotters, etc.
- Differences between grinding and cutting operations
- Safe mounting procedures
Assessment
Assessment consists of both a theory test and a practical test.
Certification
ISM Abrasive Wheels Certificate awarded upon successful completion.
Validity / Refresher Training
Refresher training is recommended every 2 years.
