RTITB Instructor Training
Comprehensive and intensive 10‑day programme designed for individuals seeking a recognised qualification as a Forklift Driving Instructor.
Suitable for both experienced certified operators and those who have completed the Novice Training Programme.
This course includes theoretical study, instructional technique development, workplace hazard awareness, operator testing skills, and an external RTITB examination (included in the cost).
Who Should Attend:
Individuals wishing to become certified RTITB Forklift Instructors.
Applicants must:
- Be pre‑qualified forklift operators or have completed the Novice Training Programme
- Hold a current and valid forklift operator certificate
- Have formal training on the truck type they intend to instruct on (Counterbalance or Reach)
Duration:
10 days (excluding weekends)
Objectives:
On completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Plan, prepare and deliver forklift instruction
- Conduct and assess theoretical tests
- Deliver practical forklift operator training
- Issue certification to operators
- Apply RTITB standards in full
Course Programme Includes:
- Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005
- Instructional techniques

- External RTITB examiner assessment
Requirements:
Candidates must:
- Hold a valid forklift operator certificate
- Have completed Novice Training or formal refresher training within the last 12 months
- Be trained on the truck type they plan to instruct on
- Counterbalance Instructor certification only covers Counterbalance
- A 1‑day conversion course is required for Reach Truck Instructor certification
Assessment & Certification:
Participants undertake both a theoretical and practical RTITB examination.
Successful candidates receive an RTITB Forklift Instructor Certificate.
